Steelroots Exhibit Touches Earth and Sky Cre8ively

Steelroots Exhibit Touches Earth and Sky Cre8ively

Generally not at a loss for words, I admit it is somewhat difficult express adequately the impact that Steve Tobin’s Steelroots Exhibit at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum made on me. The Steelroots exhibit is comprised of sixteen pieces, all formed from either steel or bronze.  Though some might consider the pieces too literal, the stark contrast between the medium and context seemed to me, a ‘natural’ fit.  The sixteen sculptures have been placed throughout the grounds at the Arboretum and among the landscape, making a striking impact to nearly every horizon with which they come into view. The meandering tentacles of these beautiful sculptures come in nearly every shape and size and speak of a strength beyond words.  Sculptor Steve Tobin...

Steve Jobs more than just Apple

Steve Jobs more than just Apple

By now, it’s no surprise to most that beloved Steve Jobs, Co-Founder and Chairman of Apple past away this past Wednesday at the age of 56.  There’s also little disputing the enormity of influence and impact Jobs made on the global landscape of technology with the inventions and advancements of his companies.  But Steve Jobs wasn’t Apple, nor was he NeXT, or Pixar. Steve Jobs was a brilliant, intelligent, intuitive, inventive, albeit arrogant man.  He was also a son, he was a husband, and a father.  He was a friend to many, a frustration to some but always true to himself.    He was dedicated to follow his convictions, wherever they led and he never, ever, gave up.  Those who knew him best call him a visionary and genius and they attribute...

With wandering musicians, maids and lords a leaping, cart vendors and social opportunities galore, this fun-filled-fantasy land welcomes anyone to join in...

Annual Arf Walk Cre8s A Howl

It’s true, animals hold a special place in our hearts and rightfully so.  This year’s annual Arf Walk was such a celebration of canine’s and the unique role they play in society and in our lives. The Arf Walk is a special event that benefits the Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society (BENCHS). This year’s activities were extensive.  With obstacle courses, dog runs, vendors, food and even a live band to accompany the entire afternoon, there was no shortage on the number of fury friends who attended or who participated with excitement. “The average dog is a nicer person than the average person.”  ~Andy Rooney The Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society was established in 1977. A Special Cre8ive Inspiration Farewell

A Special Cre8ive Inspiration Farewell

There’s good way to say goodbye to a dear friend, but sometimes there’s no way around it either.  My husband and I were faced with such a delima this past Friday when we were confronted with the certain passing of our oldest and dearest canine friend, Sir Sidney Winston Fowler.  After nearing 13 years of life this dear companion went to his eternal rest.  We are so grateful for the impression his presence made on us.  He was a very good, sweet, friendly and extremely intelligent Cocker Spaniel. “I think we are drawn to dogs because they are the uninhibited creatures we might be if we weren’t certain we knew better.  They fight for honor at the first challenge, make love with no moral restraint, and they do not for all their marvelous...
